Lecturer, Educator, and Masterclass Instructor

I began sharing knowledge at a very early stage — as soon as I entered the world of cynology. I was fifteen to sixteen years old when I was already confidently standing in clubs of animal enthusiasts, giving lectures on dog care, socialization, breed characteristics, and breeding programs. Even then, I felt a strong inner drive not only to learn, but to pass on what I had discovered.

From the age of sixteen, Janita began leading training sessions — bringing together groups of 30–40 people, sharing knowledge on animal care and training, and explaining why proper grooming, bathing, and understanding of the animal are so important. As her expertise grew, a new direction naturally emerged — she began sharing her knowledge in grooming as well. She gathered people who wanted to learn and taught them entirely free of charge. Today, it can be confidently said that many of the strongest poodle groomers in Lithuania have been shaped by her expertise and technique. This is something Janita is truly proud of.

“The most important thing I have understood over all these years is that knowledge does not belong to a person — it belongs to the world. You can be a highly skilled specialist, but if you keep all your knowledge to yourself, it will disappear with you. If you share it, it will continue to live on, helping others grow, improve, and change their lives. That is why sharing is not a phase for me — it is a continuous process. It is how I live every day. And I truly believe that when you give, it all comes back — only in a greater, stronger form.”
As an expert, Janita travels extensively abroad, conducting masterclasses around the world. “I have worked and shared my knowledge in Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, the United States, Poland, and Finland. However, it’s important to understand that I have many different responsibilities, so grooming is not my sole focus. I travel according to a pre-arranged schedule, accepting specific invitations where I can create the greatest value,” she explains. For this reason, the primary place for learning is the Tauro Grooming Academy. It offers structure, consistency, and the opportunity to grow from the basics to the highest level. The academy is led by Kamilė Ausmanė, daughter of the KIKA Group owners. Together with Janita, they develop training programs, conduct courses, and pass on their accumulated experience. Janita herself most often participates as a VIP instructor — stepping in for special situations, advanced training, and mastery-level development. Joining the academy’s courses is simple — the most important requirement is the desire to learn and grow. Today, Tauro Grooming Academy offers a broad range of training programs tailored to different people and skill levels. There are courses for pet owners who simply want to learn the fundamentals — from the basics of proper bathing and care to understanding their animals. There are also comprehensive programs for beginners seeking to build a profession, as well as advanced courses focused on specific breeds, specializations, and advanced techniques. All training sessions are clearly scheduled and available in the Tauro Grooming Academy calendar, allowing everyone to choose a time that suits them best. In addition, special training sessions with visiting international experts are regularly organized — offering the opportunity to learn from professionals from around the world in one place.

One of the most significant projects was “Grooming Fiesta 2026.” It was a unique event that brought together professional groomers and educators from 16 countries around the world. Over the course of four days, 16 dogs were groomed with detailed explanations, showcasing techniques live. Leading experts from the United States and Europe took part in the event. Such gatherings are planned to become annual — offering a rare opportunity to gain high-level knowledge in a highly concentrated format within a short period of time.
The Academy actively works with its distributors worldwide — Janita and Kamilė travel to different countries, where they share grooming knowledge and train local specialists. However, these trainings are always scheduled in advance, as demand is extremely high and time is limited.

Another important project is currently in development — an online training platform. It will be a comprehensive grooming education channel featuring video lessons that clearly demonstrate how to work with different breeds, which techniques to apply, and what to do — and why. Learners will be able to study at their own pace, guided by top instructors, regardless of their location anywhere in the world.

I consciously limit my travel. I have many different responsibilities, so I cannot dedicate all my time to grooming training, even though global demand is very high. I am glad that today this mission can also be carried forward by other professionals who have grown through the Tauro Grooming Academy training system. The seminars I lead are not just about grooming. They are often multi-day training programs, where we first focus on animal nutrition, health, skin and coat condition, and care principles — and only then move on to grooming. For me, grooming is not just a technique — it is part of a bigger whole.

Janita describes herself as a “mentor from practice,” with a different perspective and a deeper level of understanding. Her goal is not only for people to perform actions correctly, but to understand why they are doing them — and to be able to make the right decisions independently for their animal’s well-being. She wants people to truly understand the animal: what is happening inside its body, how products affect its condition, how healthy skin and coat are formed, and how all of this can be managed through daily care. This is how the idea to write the book “Mastery of Coat and Skin – My Journey” naturally emerged — so that people could have it as a tool and a source of answers to their questions. The book contains not only theoretical knowledge, but also numerous QR codes leading to video materials, where readers can see how to properly carry out many of the processes in practice.

It is important to understand that you do not become a groomer in a single day or even in four weeks. Today, it is quite common to see situations where someone spends a little time observing a professional or watches a few videos on YouTube, grooms one dog, and already calls themselves a groomer. But a true groomer is much more than that.

A good groomer begins with love — love for the dog and for the profession. But that alone is not enough. This is physically demanding work that requires endurance, patience, and responsibility. A true groomer understands the breed, conformation, the individual dog, as well as skin and coat. They know how to work with a show dog versus a pet, how to respond to different coat conditions, and how to ensure the animal both feels well and looks its best. A groomer must also have a deep understanding of products. They need to clearly know what they are applying to the pet’s skin and coat, because this carries significant responsibility. Decisions cannot be driven by convenience or cost — the pet’s health and well-being must always come first. Every product and every tool must be chosen thoughtfully, with a clear understanding of its impact. This is a specialist who not only grooms, but thinks. Someone who understands why each action is taken and is able to apply an individual approach to every dog. This comes only with experience — with hundreds of hours of work, with mistakes, and with continuous learning.

A groomer can never stand still. The world is constantly evolving — techniques improve, new tools and solutions emerge. That is why, like any high-level professional, a groomer must continuously develop their skills — learning, observing the best, and growing. Another essential aspect is that a groomer must become a trusted advisor and partner to the owner. This is someone people rely on — a professional with deep knowledge who clearly understands how to care for an animal and how to help it stay healthy, vital, and in good condition every day. And most importantly — a groomer must have strong self-worth. This is not a secondary profession. It is the work of an animal stylist — someone who shapes not only aesthetics, but also the animal’s well-being, comfort, and quality of life. Only when all of this comes together does a true master emerge. We are ready to share our knowledge in every way possible — in person, at international events, and soon in the digital space. The most important thing is the willingness to learn.
